WS VI (EISB WG.3): Moving the EISB forward - New visions for FInES research

Although the Enterprise Interoperability Science Base (EISB) is still in its early embryotic phase, it is of great importance to consider actions and activities that will not only target its sustainability and growth, but will also reinforce its credibility amongst the different communities. The latter is a key milestone, which will eventually signal the uptake of the EISB by the community that will benefit from its existence, achieving at the end a community driven long-term sustainability model.
In order to achieve the aforementioned target, we should first of all investigate different ways/models of managing and sustaining the EISB in order to guarantee its growth and its accuracy. In parallel, one has also to consider ways of reinforcing the credibility of the EISB so that it is accepted and used by various stakeholder communities. Broader acceptance of the EISB role and content is pivotal for its sustainability and will result in a constantly growing and usable knowledge base.
The quest for maximising the impact of the EISB and for reaching a broader audience can surely be supported by the rapid introduction of new (or still open) EI research challenges. Such challenges will be able to infuse into the EISB new concepts and ideas, while the existing EISB material will help researchers to investigating possible correlations towards more structured and pattern-based research paths.
The last section of WG3 will deal with proposals of open research issues that can be part of the EISB and that are worth being researched under the FInES umbrella.
